The 20th Anniversary Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival is May 10-13, 2012. This year's event is bigger than ever and the days filled with fun and educational activities for everyone, and presented by a fantastic crew of knowledgeable guides, presenters and volunteers. With over 50 activities, including workshops, presentations, field events, boat and kayak tours, land tours, viewing stations, guided hikes and walks, and arts and entertainment events, this four-day weekend has something for the birders and the nonbirders in your group, all ages and birding skill levels. View the complete schedule at homeralaska.org/shorebird.htm. Many events that require a fee or have limited seating are filling, so register soon, online, in person at the Homer Chamber, by mail or fax.
Be sure to stop by the Homer Council on the Arts on Pioneer Avenue and view 20 Birds for 20 Years, 20 original watercolor paintings created by Homer artist Carla Stanley. The exhibit opens with a reception for locals on Friday, May 4th, 5pm to 7pm and another reception during Festival weekend, Friday, May 11th, 5pm to 6pm.
Visit the Homer Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center and check out this year's anniversary merchandise, including hoodies, tshirts, mugs, fleece hats and ballcaps, notecards and art prints, all featuring the 20 Birds artwork. View the beautiful Festival Commemorative Quilt, featuring 20 years of festival t-shirts, created by Homer fiber artist Donna Hinkle.

Big thank you's to all the individuals, businesses and organizations who contribute so much of their time, energy, enthusiasm and resources to making the Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival such a huge success, previous years, this year and years going forward. Thank you to everyone who has joined as a Crane Club financial sponsor and a very special thank you to our corporate sponsors Audubon Alaska, Bay Excursions, Cook Inletkeeper, Eagle Optics, Era Aviation and World Wildlife Fund for supporting our vision of an expansive program for the 20th Anniversary Festival.
A few more volunteers are still needed to assist during the weekend. If you have time and interest, let me know!
Mark your calendars for this year's event, a four-day anniversary extravaganza you won't want to miss on the beautiful shores of Kachemak Bay.
Comments, questions, ideas? I'd love to hear them now, or complete the survey and turn it during or after Festival weekend! Happy Birding!
